Then, with the machine off, spread it briefly across the paint before you start it up — that stops the polish flinging off when you switch on. Machine speed for the Foam Pad hard should sit between 1,200 and 1,800 rpm depending on polish and paint hardness; very hard paints (Japanese cars) need higher speeds, softer paints (French and British makes) respond better to lower ones.
