What is the Koch-Chemie Top Star "Ts"? Koch-Chemie Top Star "Ts" is a care emulsion from Koch-Chemie in Unna that refreshes, protects and seals plastic and rubber parts in the car interior with a natural satin-matt finish. The silicone-oil-free formula sets it apart from classic cockpit sprays that can foul up paint and glass work later on. Instead of artificial high gloss it leaves a matt protective film with a UV blocker and an antistatic effect — Daimler-approved, so with documented material compatibility on OEM plastics.

• Satin-matt, not plastic grease. The Top Star "Ts" lays down a natural matt film on the dashboard and door trim. No high-gloss effect, no reflections in the windscreen. That's why Koch-Chemie positions it as an OEM workshop product — workshops want delivery condition, not an aftermarket-accessory look.
• Silicone-oil-free, so it plays nice with paint. Classic cockpit dressings with silicone oil creep onto glass and paint on the air currents and mess up polishing, coatings and bonding work later. The Top Star "Ts" goes without silicone oil. That makes it the first choice in workshops that also polish in the same room.
• UV protection plus antistatic in one step. The emulsion blocks the UV radiation that makes cockpits brittle in summer, and it cuts the surface's electrical charge. Day-to-day from Detailing1: The Top Star "Ts" is a care product, not a cleaner — and that's the most common mistake. Spray it onto dusty or greasy plastic and after 2–3 days you get patchy spots and water marks, because the care product seals the dirt in along with everything else. Always pre-clean first with an all-purpose cleaner, let the surface dry, and only then lay the Top Star down. Five extra minutes save you the rework later.

Cold plastic. Sponge. Wipe off.

The Top Star "Ts" doesn't go straight onto the dashboard — it goes onto an applicator sponge or a soft microfibre cloth. That way the product ends up where it belongs and not on the radio, glass or steering wheel.

5–10 ml is enough for a whole interior per car. Work it in with even, overlapping passes, let it soak for 30–60 seconds, then go back over it with a dry microfibre cloth. The wipe-off isn't an optional step — skip it and the surface stays tacky and pulls dust harder than before.

Work at room temperature, not in blazing sun and not on hot plastic. Above 30 °C the emulsion flashes off too fast and shows wipe streaks. The right moment is after the interior clean, when the surfaces are dust-free and dry — then a full plastic care job on a mid-size car takes under 10 minutes.

The Top Star "Ts" is made for smooth and textured plastics, hard components and rubber seals — so dashboard, centre console, door trim, pillar trim, boot walls and the rubber on window and door seals. Here it visibly refreshes faded surfaces and protects against further fading from UV.

It's not suitable anywhere grip matters for safety. That means the steering wheel, gear lever, pedals, handbrake grip and floor mats. The satin-matt seal drops the friction slightly, and that little bit is exactly what you don't want where you steer the car. Alcantara, fabric and leather are off the list too — there are dedicated products for those.

On hard, badly weathered plastic — say a 15-year-old cockpit with dried-out surface material — the Top Star "Ts" hits its limits. Once the plastic has gone powdery or chalky, there's no base left for the care product to grab onto. At that point no care product helps anymore, only a re-coat system or replacement. For these borderline cases the sister exterior product Plast Star Pss is tougher, but even that has its limits on completely dead surfaces.

Application of Koch-Chemie Top Star Ts

The Two-Step Workflow for a Clean Interior

Top Star Ts is a care product, not a cleaner. This means: Step 1 is always pre-cleaning, Step 2 is care. Those who reverse this or skip Step 1 will get stains and water marks after a few days — the most common application error with this product.

Step 1: Pre-clean the dashboard, door panels, center console, and rubber seals with a universal cleaner in a 1:10 dilution. Lightly dampen a microfiber cloth, do not saturate it. Wipe the entire surface dry, leaving no moisture in joints or crevices.

Step 2: Spray 5–10 ml of Top Star Ts onto an application sponge or a soft microfiber cloth — never directly onto the cockpit, otherwise droplets will end up on the glass and steering wheel. Apply evenly in overlapping strokes, let it soak in for 30–60 seconds, then wipe with a second, dry microfiber cloth. Wiping after is not an optional step: It removes excess and prevents the film from attracting dust.

For textured and grained surfaces, work into the depressions with a soft brush or the corner of a folded cloth. Also, thinly coat the rubber seals on doors and windows — there, the care prevents later tearing and squeaking.

Notes: Do not use on the steering wheel, gear lever, pedals, Alcantara, fabric, or leather. On severely dried out, chalky plastic, there is no basis for the care product to adhere to — no care product will help here. Above 30 °C or in direct sunlight, the emulsion dries too quickly and leaves streaks. Observe hazard pictograms and P-phrases, wash hands after use, keep out of reach of children. Store frost-free at 5–25 °C, unopened shelf life of 24 months.
